Description:
The 7978A replace the 7976A as HP's top-of-the-range half inch tape back up solution (at less than half the price). The 7978A recorded in the same formats as the 7976A (6250 GCR/1600 PE) and operated at the same speed (75 ips read/write, 250 ips rewind). The 7978A was obsoleted in April of 1986.
