Early 2000 Selection:

Name: 12565A Disc Interface Kit
Product Number: 12565A
Introduced: 1973
Original Price: Unknown

Description:

The HP 12565A Disc Interface Kit interfaced the 2100, 2114, 2115 and 2116 computers equipped with DMA to the HP2883A/2884A/2885A Disc drives.

One interface kit, consisting of two circuit boards, was required for each disc controller. One of the boards was used as the data channel, transferring data, status and addressing information. The other card was used as the command channel, transferring commands and device selection signals.

In the HP Catalogs from 1976 and 1977, there was an incorrect reference to a '12565B' product. Those references should have been to the 12566B Microcircuit. Thanks to Paul Birkel for pointing out the error!
