Description:

BASIC 5.1 DIO ROM for 200 and 300 Series computers. This plug-in board significantly increases the performance of 200 Series computers (as well as the 310 and 320) compared to systems with RAM-based operating systems. Documentation for BASIC 5.1 can be found here.

Collector's Notes:

These boards are very rare. Because of the high cost of ROM hardware and the rapidly changing nature of operating systems and software, almost all solutions were RAM-based by the end of the 1980s.

Dominique Berget has read the contents of the 12 ROMs on this board and created a replacement for this board, using more modern components. Click More Images to see a photo of the replacement board.

In September of 2018, Dominique released an updated version of this board with the following information...

I have just developed the Version # 3 of the dio HPBasic 5.1 + 4Mb Ram Board.

I am very satisfied about this new version. It's now a professionally manufactured printed board. So, the board looks better, and the reliability is equivalent to an original HP Board. This board works perfectly in all the Technical Computers having a dio bus.

I have tested the board with the HP 9826, 9836, 9836C, 9820. This board also works fine in the HP9000-310 and 330, using only the HPBasic 5.1 rom without the ram.
